Coraline Set Photos

The good folks at LAIKA have hooked us up with some behind-the-scenes photos from the set of Coraline a stop-motion animated feature film that will be released in stereoscopic 3-D by Focus Features on Feb. 6, 2009. The studio has been screening sneak peeks at footage from the movie, which is based on the Neil Gaiman fantasy novel of the same name.

Directed by Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, Monkeybone) Coraline centers on a young girl who moves with her parents into a new home and discovers a portal to a parallel reality. The voice cast includes Dakota Fanning, Teri Hatcher, Keith David and the famed British comedy duo of Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders, better known as French & Saunders.

This is the first feature film from Oregon-based LAIKA, which was previously known as Vinton Studios before Nike founder Phil Knight bought it. To date, the shop has been focusing on commercial work and short films. Knight’s son, Travis Knight, is VP of animation and served as a lead animator on Coraline.
