Kid channel qubo has announced a full slate of new TV shows and an expanded schedule designed to serve different age groups at different times of the day. Monday, Nov. 3 will see the debut of the series Sammy’s Story Shop, Maisy, Gofrette and Adventures from the Book of Virtues, as well as new episodes of Dragon and other popular qubo shows including 3-2-1 Penguins, Babar, Miss BG, My Friend Rabbit, Rupert, Theodore Tugboat and The Zula Patrol.
Dragon, 3-2-1 Penguins! and Jane and the Dragon are moving from their weekend-only time-slots to become daily series. Qubo has also revamped its programming schedule to better address children’s viewing patterns. Every day from 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. (ET), the outlet will air programming for preschool age children. The 1 p.m. to 12 a.m. hours will be geared more toward children ages six and up.
Airing daily at 5:30 a.m. (ET), Sammy’s Story Shop features animated adaptations of such classic children’s books as Snowy Day, Make Way For Ducklings, Harold and the Purple Crayon, Tikki Tikki Tembo and The Napping House. Each episode opens with an animated introduction by Sammy, who uses an imaginary, magic pan and spoon to cook up stories for his best friends Wiggly and Sharlene. The anthology series is produced by Scholastic Media.
Maisy will air daily at 6:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Based on the award-winning books by British author Lucy Cousins, this colorful animated series features Maisy, a lovable mouse with a nose for adventure. Joined by friends Tallulah the chicken, Charlie the crocodile, Eddie the elephant and Cyril the squirrel, Maisy is always up for trying new things and making discoveries that turn every day into something special. The series is distributed by NBC Universal.
Making its U.S. television premiere, Gofrette will entertain preschoolers daily at 7 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. with the capers of an eccentric and inquisitive cat, Gofrette, and his friends who live in the colorful world of Zanimo. Gofrette’s serendipity and out-of-the-box spirit teach children lessons about optimism and resilience. Based on the best-selling books from Doris Brasset and Fabienne Michot, the series is jointly produced by Canadian company Zoe Mae Prods. and Subsequence Ent. PorchLight Ent. is the international distributor, excluding Asia and Canada.
Adventures from the Book of Virtues will air daily at 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. The animated stories are adapted from the best-selling book The Book of Virtues by former Secretary of Education William J. Bennett. Drawn from Greek mythology, American folktales, European fairy tales, African folklore and other sources, the tales will each illustrate a central theme such as honesty, courage, responsibility, friendship and compassion. The series is produced by PorchLight Ent. in association with KCET/Hollywood.
