Breakthrough Animation announced that it has closed a production deal for My BiG BiG Friend, a new series that will be produced in association with Canadian preschool network Treehouse. Production on 52 eleven-minute episodes will begin later this year. The announcement was made by Breakthrough exec producers Kevin Gillis, Ira Levy and Peter Williamson.
My BiG BiG Friend revolves around four-year-old Yuri, who is truly shy and lonely except in his imagination, where he and his big, big friend Golias are brave, daring and adventurous. Young viewers are invited to join Yuri, his chums Lili and Matt, and their big, big friends as they discover the power of imagination.
‘This is going to be a lovely series that will resonate with our Treehouse audience and their vivid imaginations,’ says Jocelyn Hamilton, VP of content for Corus Kids. ‘We look forward to working with Breakthrough Animation on this new and exciting project.’
Winner of the 2007 Licensing Challenge at MIPCOM, My BiG BiG Friend will be produced by Breakthrough Animation in association with Brazilian company 2D Lab and Treehouse. Distribution will be handled by Breakthrough Ent.
