Hollywood Pics Keep Digital Domain Busy

A host of major motion pictures in production will bear the stamp of Academy Award-winning digital production studio Digital Domain. The vfx house today announced that it is working on such highly anticipated, vfx-driven movies as Michael Bay’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Roland Emmerich’s 2012 and Stephen Sommers’ G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra.

Digital Domain recently contributed to director David Fincher’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which hits theaters on Dec. 25. The Warner Bros. release stars Brad Pitt and employs extensive make-up and digital effects work to depict the extraordinary tale of a man who is born old and grows younger over the course of his lifetime.

Paramount Pictures will release DreamWorks’ Transformers sequel in June of 2009. Digital Domain is aiding lead vfx provider Industrial Light & Magic in bringing the giant, shape-shifting robots of cartoon and toy fame back to the big screen. The near-feature thriller 2012 from Columbia Pictures is slated to hit theaters in July of 2009, followed shortly by the Aug. 7 debut of Paramount’s big-screen treatment of the G.I. Joe toy line and animated series.

The company also announced that it was recently awarded work on Walt Disney Pictures’ Tron 2, directed by Joseph Kosinski. Digital Domain is actively recruiting to handle the ambitious slate. For open positions, go to digitaldomain.com.
