Samuel L. Jackson has struck a deal with Marvel Studios to reprise the role of Nick Fury in Iron Man 2 and as many as nine future superhero films.
Jackson, who played Fury in a post-credits cameo in Iron Man, could play the role in the studio’s planned Thor, Captain America and Avengers movies. A starring role in a Nick Fury feature also is a possibility.
Fury, who first appeared in Marvel Comics as tough-talking World War II grunt soldier Sgt. Fury, was transformed by the James Bond fad of the 1960s into Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. When Fury was reimagined for Marvel’s Ultimate line of comics a few years back, the character was modeled on Jackson’a well-known comic-book fan.
