CJ, ToonBox Team Up for Bolts and Blip

Korea-based CJ Entertainment has struck a co-production deal with ToonBox Entertainment and Redrover Co. Ltd. for the animated television project Bolts and Blip.

The series, set for 26 half-hour episodes, follows a pair of best friends who get a chance to compete in the coveted Lunar League of Robotic Sports only to find they’re often in over their heads.

Due to be completed in winter 2009, the series is directed by Peter Lepeniotis (Toy Story 2) and features as writers Eric Trueheart (Yin Yang Yo!), Riccardo Durante (Gruesomestein’s Monsters) and Mark Ackland (Yin Yang Yo!).

Korean-based Redrover and Toronto-based ToonBox will handle production, with CJ Entertainment and ToonBox handling sales and marketing.

The program has already won the Global Animation Project Award from KOCCA, and plans for the franchise include an online game, a 3-D feature film and licensing and merchandise.
