Marvel Studios Seeking Staff Scripters

Comic-book movie powerhouse Marvel Studios is looking to assemble a group of screenwriters to develop scripts for various properties in a fellowship program similar to one run by Disney, Variety reports.

The program will see Marvel invite up to five writers a year into the program to work on various projects. Writers will be given assignments and paid a salary that is expected to run as high as $100,000 per year.

The studio will be using this program to develop ideas for some of the lesser-known characters from its comic book universe, such as Doctor Strange, Black Panther and Iron Fist.

Studio will own all the work the program’s writers produce during the year and will have the opportunity to extend the deal if it so desires.

Agents are currently pitching their clients to the studio, where a group of executives lead by studio president Kevin Feige will make the final decisions. It is possible for writers working on Marvel’s comic book line may be chosen.

The writers chosen for the program are expected to begin work later this year.
