Eric Roth is staying on as executive director of the Visual Effects Society
Roth, who has been executive director of the group since 2004, is now set to stay in the job through December 2013.
Under his tenure, the VES says it has more than doubled its membership to more than 2,200 in more than 20 different countries. The society also has, during that time, established sections in San Francisco, London, Vancouver and Sydney.
“In today’s entertainment world, visual effects is at the center of the universe and VES represents the best of the best in the visual effects craft,” said Roth. “I am very pleased to have this vote of confidence from the Board of VES and am proud to represent our members to the film, television, gaming and entertainment community.
The VES will present its annual awards program at the Beverly Hilton Feb. 1, when it will honor director Christopher Nolan with the inaugural VES Visionary Award and effects pioneer Ray Harryhausen with the VES Lifetime Achievement Award.
