Big brains and big muscles lead this week’s superheroic charge of new releases on DVD and Blu-ray.
Leading the pack with a Friday release is Megamind (DreamWorks Animation, $30.99 DVD, $44.99 Blu-ray/DVD combo pack), a tale of a blue-domed supervillain who succeeds in his plan to defeat Metro Man, the defender of Metro City. Directed by Tom McGrath, the film features the voices of Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Brad Pitt, David Cross and Jonah Hill.
Out Tuesday is All-Star Superman (Warner Bros., $19.98 DVD, $24.98 DVD 2-disc special edition, $24.98 Blu-ray/DVD combo pack), an original direct-to-video animated feature. Directed by Sam Liu and scripted by Dwayne McDuffie, the feature adapts the popular 12-issue comic book series by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely about the final days of Superman.
