Here’s a little sunshine to brighten the protracted Pacific North Western winter! (The first day of spring was Tuesday? Very funny.) The Northwest Animation Festival is wrapping up its call for entries for the 2012 event, set to be held in Portland this May.
Special treats in store for this year’s edition include entries from the 2012 Oscar contenders, work by sculptor and filmmaker John Frame and a sneak peek at Portland-based LAIKA’s upcoming 3-D stop-motion feature, ParaNorman (August 17, 2012).
Submit your films by April 1 for consideration for this “by animators, for animators” festival which seeks to showcase the diversity of the animation world. Hand-drawn, CG, stop-motion, pixilation and hybrid takes on all subject matters are encouraged and no origin, length, completion date or fest/internet showing restrictions are involved.

The 2012 Northwest Animation Festival will be held May 18 and 19 at the history Hollywood Theatre in Portland, Oregon. Visit nwanimationfest.com for further fest and submission details.
