DreamWorks Animation has unveiled the new 200,000 square-foot headquarters for its PDI animation facility in Redwood City, Calif., the LA Times reports. The new campus overlooks the San Francisco Bay and is 30% larger than the location’s previous facility. DWA execs had said they needed the extra space to expand operations and consolidate departments under one roof.
“DreamWorks Animation employees in Redwood City now have a home that complements the outstanding quality of their workd,” said CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg. “This new building was designed not only to give them the best tools in the world, but also an exception and unique work environment.”
Adding to DWA employees’ perks are an on-site medical clinic and nutritionist, a larger café and more outdoor space (complete with gas heaters to repel pesky Bay Area chill)—and a giant topiary Moonboy, like the Glendale HQ boasts. PDI currently employs 526 with plans to hire on an additional 200 over the next three years. The division served as home base for this year’s Madagascar 3 and will tackle Rob Minkoff’s Mr. Peabody and Sherman, due out next year.
