If you love cartoons, odds are you love Cartoon Network’s surreal and hilarious Adventure Time series. That makes this week’s release of Adventure Time: The Complete Third Season (Warner Bros., $26.95 DVD, $32.07 Blu-ray) a no-brainer must-own for fans of all ages.
The third-season set includes 26 episodes of the series, audio commentaries for every episode, an interview with series creator Pendleton Ward and an alternate show introduction. It also comes in a custom die-cut slipcase that that transforms into a collectible BMO figurine.

This week also sees the home-video debut of Marvel’s most-recent feature film hit, Thor: The Dark World (Disney, $29.99 DVD, $32.99 Blu-ray, $39.99 3-D Blu-ray/Blu-ray/digital copy combo pack). Directed by Alan Taylor, the effects-packed feature based on the Marvel comic created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby goes deeper into the mythology of Asgard and features returning cast members Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston.
Kid-friendly toon releases this week include The Swan Princess: A Royal Family Tale (Sony Pictures, $19.99 DVD and digital copy, $26.99 Blu-ray, DVD and digital copy), Wild Kratts: Bugging Out (PBS, $9.99), Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: Life’s Little Lessons (PBS, $12.99), Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: Daniel’s Big Feelings (PBS, $12.99), Caillou: Caillou’s Garden Adventure (PBS, $9.99) and Transformers Prime: Ultimate Bumblebee (Shout! Tops among anime releases is K: The Complete Series (VIZ Media, $44.82 DVD, $69.99 Blu-ray and DVD). The Blu-ray and DVD combo pack comes packaged in a luxurious collectible specialty print chipboard box containing a full-color 80 page art booklet containing episode synopses, character profiles, poster art and translated song lyrics. An extensive set of interviews includes coverage of the series’ debut at Anime Expo 2013, exclusive English cast and crew interviews, original Japanese and English trailers, and clean opening and ending segments.
