Walt Disney Co. CEO Bob Iger teased the studio’s upcoming projects including Star Wars and planned Pixar sequels at the company’s annual shareholder meeting in Portland, Ore.
Iger’s remarks included mention that Brad Bird is working on a story for a sequel to Pixar’s The Incredibles. That gave fans of the original film, released in 2004, a glimmer of hope, having long been clamoring for a sequel to the family superhero tale.
Pixar also is working on another Cars movie, which would be the third in that series.
In Star Wars developments, Iger says J.J. Abrams’ Episode VII is well into pre-production with shooting expected to begin in May. The story is said to take place some 30 years after Return of the Jedi, and will feature familiar faces as well as three young new leads.
He denied the rampant casting rumors and says only R2-D2 has been confirmed for the long-awaited sequel. The movie is slated for release Dec. 18, 2015.
Lastly, Iger confirmed that the next D23 fan event will be held Aug. 14-16, 2015, in Anaheim, Calif., with tickets going on sale Aug. 14, 2014.

It shouldn’t have taken a decade for a sequel to THE INCREDIBLES (& I’m sorry but if you can afford to waste $ being a member of D23? Then maybe you deserve to be financially ripped off! The Walt Disney Co sells their version of a Comic Con to thee public a year in advance? I’m sure there will be overpriced tickets showing up on ebay later (rolls eyes). A 3rd CARS movie? Only if it takes place in Radiator Springs (& do a better job of remembering Paul Newman / George Carlin without recasting their roles with different voice actors!)
