Cartoon Network is premiering the new-and-improved The Tom and Jerry Show this Wednesday, April 9 at 5:30 (4:30 central) — but you can get a little taste of the madcap animated antics to come rights now:
“Spike Gets Skooled”
Tom gets Spike sent to obedience school, and Jerry is left without a protector. When Spike returns, Jerry tries hard to get Spike to revert to his old ways. Tom fights back to make sure that Spike keeps his cool.

“Cats Ruffled Furniture”
Tom is under strict orders to not wake the Witch sisters, but Jerry is set on getting Tom in trouble. When Tom uses the magic spell wand and makes all of the furniture come alive, he must get the help of Newt to make everything go back as it was.

It might be just me, but the choice of using darker color tones of each characters skin/fur colour doesn’t look as good as the classic, thick black character outlines (at least in THIS case). I wonder why there is no shading and shadows on and under the characters. That’s odd. Also, i don’t want to assume, but these seem to be animated in Flash, which is a huge difference from classical 2d traditional treatment of the past series. I am not saying it is bad but, it is definitely noticeably different. That being said, I am sure 90% of the people watching this are not familiar with any past iterations of Tom and Jerry. Maybe, if they completely departed from the original, and even altered the character designs to suit the new treatment, I would be MORE on board with this. If the characters were more visually simple and graphically appealing, it would definitely resonate more with the kids. Nonetheless, it is great that two classic iconic characters like TOm and Jerry haven’t been forgotten by Cartoon Network .
