Software giant Autodesk has moved its digitization program Memento into the next phase, launching a worldwide free public beta. Memento is an end-to-end solution for converting any reality capture input (photos, scans) into high definition 3D models. The 3D mesh can then be optimized for further digital use, physical fabrication or interactive experiences.
No CAD experience is required to use the tool, which offers a range of applications across a variety of industries, including entertainment, fine arts, science, handcrafts, design, collection archiving and more. The beta release includes a new web site with links to learning material and use cases, with an online gallery to launch soon. Beta users can get to know Memento as a cloud-connected desktop app available for Windows and soon Mac.
