The second-largest free TV channel in Brazil, SBT, has begun airing hit Russian animated series Masha and the Bear, currently broadcasting season one episodes Monday through Friday at during its Carrossel Animado block, which starts at 7 a.m. SBT has acquired rights to both seasons of Masha from Animaccord, picking up a total of 52 episodes.
Masha and the Bear is showing steady growth in popularity in Brazil thanks to the SBT debut, existing partnership with Turner, and the planned expansion of the brand’s licensing program into the country in the fourth quarter this year. Animaccord that the large audience of both its regional broadcasting partners in the area will drive huge demand for branded products, according to VP Vladimir Gorbulya.
Dogs Can Fly serves as agent for Masha and the Bear throughout Latin America.
