An upcoming episode of The Fred Rogers Company’s multiple Daytime Emmy-winning series Peg + Cat will put a musical twist on early mathematics concepts with a troop of special guest stars: Latin Grammy nominated Mariachi Flor de Toloache. New York’s first (and only) all-women mariachi band will lend their voices to “The Mariachi Problem,” premiering September 15 on PBS KIDS.
In this special episode, all seven members of Mariachi Flor de Toloache will play animated versions of themselves in their first ever cartoon cameos. “The Mariachi Problem” will feature original counting songs performed by the band as the help Cat serenade his lady love, Rosana, on a road trip to Mexico.
Mariachi Flor de Toloache — whose latest album Las Caras Lindas was released this spring to positive reviews — join an impressive roster of Peg + Cat guests, which have included prima ballerina Misty Copeland and Grey’s Anatomy star Sandra Oh (who played the President of the United States). The series is created by Jennifer Oxley (Little Bill, The Wonder Pets!) and Billy Aronson (Rent, Postcards from Buster).
