Animation Guild Launches Virtual Holiday Market

The Animation Guild (TAG) launched its 3rd Annual Virtual Holiday Market on Dec. 1, showcasing the talents of the guild’s union members. This marketplace will run through Dec. 18 featuring unique and memorable gifts from pros behind popular animated TV shows and films.

“It was very cool to bring other creators out of the woodwork with the idea of a hassle-free marketplace, and even better to find that co-workers were excited to support artists by shopping small. The opportunity to make this a larger scale event with the help of The Animation Guild amplified all of those rewards,” said TAG member Ashley Long, one of the market’s organizers.

Shoppers will find stationary, plush toys, crossbody bags, comic books, 3D printer jewelry, sculptures, face masks, toddler clothing, aromatherapy, stickers, books and more — and a great way to “shop local” and support artists. A few of these diverse offerings include:

  • A screenwriter on The Angry Birds Movie 2 and SCOOB!, Jonathon E. Stewart is the founder of Java Stew Coffee. Based in Hermosa Beach, Calif., Stewart’s custom roasting company focuses on ethical brokers and growers who use safe, sustainable shade techniques and provide a fair wage.
  • Esther Barr spent more than 20 years as a special effects animator, but the past two decades have been devoted to distilling the essence of movement into her copper artwork. Finished with patina, torch-fired enamel or color oxides, Barr’s unique and striking creations are featured at her online gallery, Esther Barr Metalworks.
  • With credits including Captain America: Civil War and Trolls World Tour, Onesimus Neurnberger currently works as matte painter at DreamWorks Animation. Outside the industry he creates charming artwork for LaCorgi, where he sells prints, greeting cards, stickers and apparel inspired by his pet corgi, Georgi.
