Hollywood prodco/creative think tank Centaur Studios is hoofing right along on its animated comedy series The Glue Factory, set to debut early this year. Leading the herd are showrunner/head writer Jon Barinholtz (creator of Chicago Party Aunt, actor in American Auto) and Centaur Studios principals Lauren and Sam Korotkov.
The project is being propelled by the sale of collectible ‘colt’ NFTs, featuring equine characters rendered in a provocative art style which spotlights how horses are mistreated. Glue Factory sold 10,000 colts in under two hours, enabling a donation of $315,000 to charity partner Red Bucket Equine Rescue (redbucketrescue.org) last year.
Season 1 (six episodes) follows the adventures of horses rescued from the mistreatment they suffered at the hands of their human masters, and now must navigate life in a new world where the horses make the rules. The Glue Factory is in the midst of production, with voices recorded for the show’s impressive cast roster — including Barinholtz, Rob Belushi, Ted Danson, Patton Oswalt, Tara Strong, Nicole Sullivan, Colton Dunn, Katie Rich, Bobby Moynihan and Bobby Lee.
Likened by voice actor and writer Colton Dunn (Superstore) to a “reverse comic-con,” the project has uniquely allowed community input into the writing process through the Community Writers’ Room, allowing holders of Glue Factory NFTs to pitch ideas to the writers. The stellar collection of actors/writers penning the show also includes Belushi (Chicago P.D.), Kate Rich (Saturday Night Live) and Jim Wise (Even Stevens).
Centaur Studios and the creative team are using Web3 to connect to the “Glue Gang” community of stable-owners, first through the Discord-native Community Writers’ Room, and now by building the Community Creators’ Room in partnership with Struthless Studios, the team behind collaborations with Adult Swim, the Dallas Mavericks, The Kid LAROI, Universal Music, Sony and more. The CCR Will launch this spring.
