Comedian and voice actor Kevin McDonald joins fellow Kids in the Hall creator Bruce McCulloch in Lakeside Animation Studios’ upcoming adult animated series Paralegal. Also joining the cast is Canada’s Got Talent finalist Courtney Gilmour, and the award-winning comedy troupe of TallBoyz (Tim Blair, Guled Abdi, Franco Nguyen and Vance Banzo).
The series follows Jerry, an eager to please junior lawyer, who teams up with Luther, a recently deceased super-slick attorney to create a law firm catering to ghosts. With the help of the legal and supernatural experts in Jerry’s own immediate family, they work together to right the wrongs that were done to their clients, living and/or dead.
McDonald will voice a mystical Llama who dictates the karmic fates of all souls in the universe, while McCulloch will voice Jerry’s nemesis, Marlon Brisk — a local crime lord/spirit medium.
The series is created by Tim Blair (TallBoyz), Jeremy Dobski (Just For Laughs) and Matt Lyon (Arctic Dogs, Red Iron Road).
Lakeside Owner/Executive Producer Iouri Stepanov and Chief Content Officer Aron Dunn will be presenting the project to networks, platforms, distributors and financiers at MIPCOM in Cannes (contact Dunn for more information, aron.dunn@lakesideanimation.com). The project is in active development. A fully illustrated pitch deck and pilot script are available. Lakeside is producing an animated teaser that will be available this winter.
