Mickey and Gang Visit Disneyland’s Toontown in New Hybrid Animated Spot

Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy and Pluto are on their way to Disneyland’s popular Toontown attraction in “Mickey’s Toontown,” the spanking-new animated/live-action hybrid spot directed by Finnish helmer and former vfx artist Misko Iho.

The lively commercial features Mickey Mouse and the gang in their latest Once Upon a Studio designs interacting with Walt Disney Imagineering and Disney Television Animation rides like Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and DuckTales: Donald’s Boat.

The new Mickey’s Toontown spot directed by Misko Iho.

Working closely with Disney’s animation team and BlockheadVFX in New Zealand, Misko blended classic Disney hand-drawn animation with live action. The creative director at Dentsu was Chris Kloet and lead animator at Disney was industry legend, Eric Goldberg.

Misko is widely known for his ability to mix stunning vfx with live action, which he’s done in signature campaigns from Flonase (directing the terrifying Flonase Grass and Petrified Petals Monsters) to the Robot in the longform Daloc Security Doors commercial. He also enjoys a reputation for deeply emotional storytelling from the haunting short Smile to the beautifully crafted The Cell for LIDL, which won him Director of the Year and the Grand Prix at the Finnish Commercial Film Awards, to his multiple award-winning festival favorite The Patient.
