Trailer: Artists & AI Collab for ‘Our T2 Remake’

A pioneering feature-length parody exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence and cinema will be making its online debut next week, when Our T2 Remake — a tribute the 1991 sci-fi hit Terminator 2: Judgment Day premieres. Launching March 6, the movie is crafted with the aid of AI to bring to life a world where humanity stands against a tech dominion ruled by ChatGPT.

The project creators aimed to re-envision the classic AI “Doomsday” narrative by highlighting the technology’s positive contributions and showcasing how it can empower filmmakers to tell their stories.

Our T2 Remake

Our T2 Remake started production during the writers strike, and was led by Los Angeles-based director Nem Perez and Miami-based actor Sway Molina, who assembled a team of 50 artists. The film was divided into 50 segments, each reimagined by a different artist using various Al tools and styles.

Organized entirely through Discord & Zoom by this global creatives group, the collaborative project enabled artists to offer feedback and contribute ideas to craft a mixed-media experience. Every two or three minutes, the film transitions to a new artistic interpretation, while maintaining a cohesive storyline.

Artists utilized tools like Midjourney, Runway, Pika Labs, Kaiber and Adobe, while ensuring all content was original, without using any footage, dialog or music from the original film. The T-800 dialog was recorded by Richard Zuniga, an Arnold Schwarzenegger impersonator with a large following on Instagram. The overall budget for the film was $0.

The filmmaking team asserts, ” We are committed to empowering artists and redefining filmmaking norms.”
