Raphael Bob-Waksberg, who a decade ago delivered the game-changing series BoJack Horseman, is teaming up with Netflix and Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company and animation studio ShadowMachine once again for a new adult animated comedy: Long Story Short. The original series, set to launch in 2025, was announced timed to the 10th anniversary of BoJack‘s premiere on August 22, 2014.
“It is legitimately a thrill and an honor to be back doing what I love most: drafting enthusiastic pull quotes for press releases to Hollywood trade publications. Who says you can’t go home again?!” Bob-Waksberg quipped.
Logline: Long Story Short is an animated comedy about a family, over time. It’s about the shared history, the inside jokes, the old wounds. If you’ve ever had a mother, father, sibling, partner, or child, this is the show for you and by the way would it kill you to call them?
Bob-Waksberg will write, showrun and executive produce the series. Noel Bright and Steven A. Cohen (BoJack Horseman, Tuca & Bertie, Undone) will executive produce for Tornante Television. Lisa Hanawalt (BoJack Horseman; creator of Tuca & Bertie) is supervising producer and will design the original art for the series.
ShadowMachine (BoJack Horseman, Tuca & Bertie, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio), is producing out of their L.A. facility. Corey Campodonico and Alex Bulkley will serve as co-executive producers for the studio.

Executive produced by Bob-Waksberg, Cohen and Bright, voice stars Will Arnett and Aaron Paul also served as executive producers. BoJack was designed by graphic artist Hanawalt and animated by L.A.-based ShadowMachine. The show was a Tornante Television production brought to life by Michael Eisner’s The Tornante Company, with a voice cast that included Arnett, Paul, Paul F. Tompkins, Amy Sedaris and Alison Brie.
