Epsilon Film has got its paws on the worldwide distribution rights for The Amazing Maurice 2, the upcoming CG-animated sequel featuring Maurice, the self-proclaimed most amazing cat in the world, along with his human and rat companions. This Sky Original brings back Malicia, Keith and the Clan Rats for anotherthrilling adventure. In the tale filled with pirates, vampires, werewolves and sirens, they are joined by a furless cat named Admiral Katz as they embark on a perilous quest to find the legendary Waters of Life.
Epsilon will begin preselling The Amazing Maurice 2 – The Waters of Life at the upcoming American Film Market (AFM) in the Palm Casino Resort, 10th floor, #225. The company previously handled worldwide rights for the first Amazing Maurice.
The film is slated for delivery in 2027.
The English-language animated feature is, like the multi-award-winning first film, based on the books by Sir Terry Pratchett and his popular Discworld novels, which have sold over 100 million copies in 37 languages. The first Amazing Maurice film grossed a global box office of over $24 million USD and made the Top 5 in most every territory. The movie won a British Animation Award, a Pulcinella Award, was nominated for the European Film Award and longlisted at the BAFTA Film Awards and the Academy Awards. It premiered in the U.S. at the Sundance Film Festival.
The creative team behind the first The Amazing Maurice movie has reunited for this new adventure, which is to be directed again by Toby Genkel (Ooops! Noah is Gone…, Paul McCartney’s High in the Clouds) and produced again by Emely Christians (Niko & The Way to the Stars, Two by Two: Overboard!), Andrew Baker (Bad Jelly, Bollywoof) and Robert Chandler (A Christmas Number One, The Canterville Ghost). Character design is by Carter Goodrich (Finding Nemo, Shrek) and Heiko Hentschel (Ooops! Noah is Gone…), with the script written by Giles Smart and Keiron New (The Canterville Ghost, Mimi & Harold – Out of Frame).
