Three Animation Nominees Announced for College TV Awards

The Television Academy Foundation has announced the three student-produced animation projects nominated for its 44thCollege Television Awards, with two films from Savannah College of Art and Design and one from Brigham Young University making the cut for the Animation Series category. The nominees were selected from over 200 entries from colleges nationwide by Television Academy members.

The Foundation’s annual awards show recognizes and rewards excellence in student-produced programs from colleges across the country. Winners in the competition will be announced by television stars at the red carpet awards ceremony on April 5, 2025, at the Television Academy in North Hollywood.

Designed to emulate the Emmy Awards, student entries are judged by Television Academy members. Criteria for the College Television Awards reflect industry standards of excellence, imagination and innovation.

Time Flies

Time Flies is a fast-paced animation adventure in which two flies with opposite personalities struggle to make the most of their 24-hour lifespan. The energetic A-fly rushes to complete every activity on a massive bucket list, whereas the introspective Z-fly searches for a deeper meaning, only to spiral into existential dread. As the sun starts to set, the flies panic that their time is running out. But in the end, a death-defying encounter forces them both to live in the moment while they still can.

 

Le Charade

Le Charade is a jazzy animated piece about an unemployed mime who is grappling with his future. Struggling to break from his ingrained routine and feeling like an outcast, the mime must navigate the psychosis of his mind as he scouts for a new profession in the city.

Student Accomplice is a comedic animation which features a nervous teen who is taking her driving test when a bank robber decides to use her as his getaway driver, which leads to a hilarious high-octane car chase.

 

Attending nominees of the 44th College Television Awards will also participate in two days of professional development events with media and industry leaders and a special screening of their projects for Television Academy members prior to the awards show on April 5.
