‘Thunderbirds’ Are Go! with New 4K Home Release

Thunderbirds

Anderson Entertainment, the company founded by television series creator Gerry Anderson, has announced the release of special, limited-edition Blu-ray and 4K versions of classic Gerry & Sylvia Anderson titles, including the beloved Space: 1999, Captain Scarlet and the iconic Thunderbirds series.

As the company and fans celebrate 60 years of Thunderbirds, an expansion of its licensing agreement with ITV Studios enables Anderson Entertainment to invite both long-time enthusiasts and new viewers to join in the celebrations with these special limited-edition releases.

A key highlight is the high-definition release of Thunderbirds on Blu-ray in its original 4:3 format, something Anderson fans have been anticipating for over a decade. This special edition presents Thunderbirds in pristine high definition in its original format for the first time in the U.K. The release includes an array of brand-new special features, including the three special Anniversary Episodes, produced in 2015, which have never previously been released on physical media.

Also included will be exclusive extra content including interviews with the creators, and insights into the production techniques that made it a ground-breaking landmark in television history. This special edition allows viewers to relive the thrilling adventures of International Rescue as they have never been presented before.

“The 60th anniversary of Thunderbirds is a remarkable milestone and after years of anticipation, we are beyond excited to finally present this original format release to our dedicated global fans who cherish these shows as much as we do,” said Jamie Anderson, son of Gerry Anderson and Managing Director of Anderson Entertainment. “As the fanbase for my father’s creations grows across generations, we are thrilled to be able to celebrate the ground-breaking legacy of his work with these special releases.”

Anderson Entertainment is committed to bringing classic Gerry & Sylvia Anderson series including Space: 1999, Captain Scarlet and many more to fans through limited-edition Blu-ray and 4K physical media. These special releases will be available from the Gerry Anderson Store and physical media retailers from later this year.
