Moviegoers who plunk down their money to see The Day The Earth Stood Still this weekend will be treated to the new trailer for Terminator Salvation, the fourth film in the hugely successful sci-fi action saga. The trailer is now online at www.apple.com/trailers/wb/terminatorsalvation.
Terminator Salvation takes place in the post-apocalyptic year 2018 as John Connor (Christian Bale) prepares to meet his destiny as leader of the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. The film also stars Anton Yelchin, Dallas Bryce Howard, Moon Bloodgood, Common and Jadagrace. This is the first in a new trilogy of Terminator pics, and Bale has reportedly signed on to star in all three.
The new trailer offers glimpses of towering CG robots and other visual effects. A Japanese version was posted on YouTube, but was promptly removed by Warner Bros. The flick is scheduled for a North American theatrical release May 22, 2009. Warner Bros. Pictures is handling all U.S. and Canadian distribution rights, with Sony Pictures Entertainment handling distribution in most international territories excluding Korea and select Mideast territories.
