Marvel Studios has set May 6, 2011, as the day Spider-Man 4 will hit theaters, while also bumping back planned release dates for its Thor, Captain America and Avengers films.
The studio has bumped Thor, to be directed by Kenneth Branagh, from its July 16, 2010 slot to June 17, 2011. The First Avenger: Captain America gets only a minor bump, moving back about two and a half months, from May 6, 2011 to July 22, 2011.
Both movies are part of the buildup to a planned Avengers movie, which now will debut May 4, 2012’10 months later than its original release target of July 15, 2011.
Iron Man 2, which also will build up the Avengers universe, remains on target for a May 7, 2010 release.
