Rudolph Gets Post Office’s Stamp of Approval

This Christmas, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is taking on a side-gig with the U.S. Postal Service.

In a deal between Classic Media and the U.S.P.S., DVDs of the classic Rankin-Bass TV special will be made available at more than 5,000 postal offices as part of the Postal Service’s program, A Simpler Way to Holiday.

Buyers of the DVD will receive a discount of $2 if they ship it via Priority Mail. The program will include in-store signage and branded boxes.

“We are very excited to be working with the U.S. Postal Service,” said Christian Gordon, VP of promotional marketing for Classic Media. “This partnership combines the most reliable shipping source with the most popular holiday TV special of all time. Through this program, customers will have one more—and very convenient—way to share the magic of Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer is the longest-running holiday special of all time.  Since its television debut in 1964, millions of families across the country have watched the program, which is based on the popular song by Johnny Marks and includes an original musical score by Burl Ives.
