The National Board of Review has named Disney/Pixar’s Toy Story 3 as one of the top ten best movies of the year. The New York—based critics’ organization picked The Social Network as the best film of 2011. The other eight films on the list were, in alphabetic order, Another Year, The Fighter, Hereafter, Inception, The King’s Speech, Shutter Island, The Town, True Grit and Winter’s Bone.
Toy Story 3 also won the Best Animated Film prize. The org’s Spotlight Award went to French director Sylvain Chomet and the late Jacques Tati for The Illusionist. The awards ceremony will take place in New York on January 11. NBR is often the first critics’ group to designate their favorite films and performances each year.
