CN Hits a Home Run with Tooner Field

Tooner Field is now officially ready to play ball. The Atlanta-based Cartoon Network-themed entertainment arena features original characters in life-size and larger-than-life-size interactive environments, many with baseball themes. Atlanta Braves chairman Terry McQuirk, TBS chairman and CEO Phil Kent, MLB commissioner Bud Selig and Turner Entertainment group president Mark Lazarus and CN’s exec VP and general manager Jim Samples officially opened the $4 million family entertainment outfit last Friday.

The opening of the center was time to coincide with launch of Selig’s 2005 Commissioner’s Initiative for Kids courtesy of Ameriquest, which offers more than one million tickets to children who might not afford to attend a major league baseball game otherwise.

The facility’s attractions include a Codename: Kids Next Door treehouse headquarter, a onstage sing-and-dance-along with Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, a giant robot experience from Dexter’s Laboratory, two cool meet-and-greet rooms with pals from Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, an awesome kid-sized Ed, Edd ‘n Eddy maze and a Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy baseball toss.

The 6,900 square foot entertainment facility will be open to attending families before and during Braves games through the seventh inning. One last thing: Tooner Field’s official mascot is none other than a very familiar buffed up character who has taken a definite stand against steroid abuse, Johnny Bravo!
