L.A. Film Fest to Sneak ‘Winnie The Pooh’

If you’re an animation fan and happen to be in Los Angeles June 16-26, you may want to check out the wide variety of animated features and shorts screening at the 2011 Los Angeles Film Festival. Produced by Film Independent, the event offers over 200 feature films, shorts, and music videos, representing more than 30 countries. The screenings will take place at L.A. Live in downtown Los Angeles.

“We experienced our most successful year ever when we were downtown last year for the first time, and we can’t wait to return with this diverse, rich and exciting program of film,” said Los Angeles Film Festival Director Rebecca Yeldham.  “We’re looking forward to reuniting our community of filmmakers and film lovers with this year’s program of memorable cinematic events and experiences.”

The festival offers a special sneak preview of Disney’s upcoming feature, the 2D-animated Winnie the Pooh (directed by Stephen Anderson and Don Hall). Among the noteworthy animated shorts included in the program this year are:

  • 1989 by Thor Ochsner
  • Grandpa Looked Like William Powell by David B. Levy
  • Math Test by Jung Yumi
  • Something Left, Something Taken by Ru Kuwahata and Max Porter
  • Specky Four Eyes by Jean-Claude Rozec
  • The Ballad of Nessie by Stevie Wermers and Kevin Deters
  • The Birthday Surprise by Danne Bakker
  • The Death of an Insect by Hannes Vatliainen and Pekka Veikkolainen
  • The Eagleman Stag by Mikey Please
  • Tord and Tord by Niki Lindroth von Bahr
  • Venus by Tor Fruergaard

General admission tickets to individual films go on sale beginning May 31. Festival passes and tickets can also be purchased in person beginning on Monday, June 13 at the Coca-Cola Ticket Center, located in the Festival Village on the rooftop of the West Parking Garage at L.A. Live.
