Adult Swim has unveiled the official trailer for the upcoming fifth, limited season of Genndy Tartakovsky’s cult-hit action-adventure toon Samurai Jack … and it looks awesome. The culmination of Jack’s journey will premiere Saturday, March 11 at 11 p.m. ET during Adult Swim’s Toonami block — 12 ½ years since the original series came to an open-ended conclusion.
As the trailer relates, the new adventures are set 50 years after the events of the original series — yet Jack does not age. Struggling with is identity and rediscovering his purpose, Jack (voiced again by Phil LaMarr) once again faces the villainous forces lead by the shapeshifting demon Aku on the road to finally completing his journey.
With Tartakovsky steering the project, the conclusive season will form a cohesive story that reveals the answers to some of the show’s mysteries and introduces more mature elements.
