Heritage Auctions has opened bidding for its upcoming showcase auction, The Art of MTV and Nickelodeon. Offering production art, sketches and cels from kids’ classics and groundbreaking adult toons, the gavel drops Thursday, February 16 at 11 a.m. CT.
The long-running Nickelodeon favorite SpongeBob SquarePants is well represented among the most active listings leading up to the auction. Also creating buzz are production cels from the original Nicktoons trilogy that premiered in 1991: Rugrats, The Ren & Stimpy Show and Doug.
Other titles included in this sale’s offering are Nickelodeon’s Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, The Angry Beavers and Rocko’s Modern Life, as well as MTV’s iconic Beavis and Butt-head and the sci-fi actioner Æon Flux.
