Ooo, Baby! Oni Press Sneak Peeks New ‘Adventure Time’ Comics Series

Oni Press and Warner Bros. Discovery Global Consumer Products (WBDGCP) have debuted a first look at pages from Adventure Time #1, the first issue in the previously announced, all-new ongoing monthly series arriving in comic shops April 9. The new stories pick up where the previous Eisner Award-winning comics left off almost a decade ago.

Featuring art from acclaimed cartoonist and animator Nick Winn (Silver Sprocket’s Bloody Mary) — plus a brand-new back-up story from LA Times Book Award finalist and Adventure Time animator Derek Ballard (Cartoonshow) — the debut story arc “Best of Buds” reunites Pendleton Ward’s iconic duo: Jake the dog and Finn the human!

“The new Adventure Time comic series is going to be full of hilarity-causing jokes, heart-wrenching moments, and — as you can see in these pages!—absolutely format-breaking adventures for Finn, Jake and the rest of our fabulous cast,” said series editor Megan Brown. “We’re so incredibly excited to showcase the wonderful talents of our truly mathematical creative team!”

The series’ rotating cast of talents includes cartoonist and animator Nick Winn (Bloody Mary), 2024 Eisner Award winner Caroline Cash (PeePee PooPoo), Asia Simone (Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur: Wreck and Roll), Jorge Monlongo (Over the Garden Wall: Hallow Town), Brenda Hickey (My Little Pony) and former Adventure Time writer/storyboard artist and 2024 LA Times Book Prize Finalist Derek Ballard (Cartoonshow), with more yet to come.

The new comics series will also showcase a mathematical lineup of covers, featuring art by Winn as well as David Nakayama (Star Wars: Ahsoka) (also available in a gold foil variant and as a black-and-white variant); Trung Le Nguyen (The Magic Fish) (also available as a silver foil variant); Eisner Award winner Tillie Walden (On a Sunbeam, The Walking Dead: Clementine); Eisner Award winner Caroline Cash (PeePee PooPoo) and Eisner Award winner Erica Henderson (Squirrel Girl) — plus two totally trigonometric sketch covers!

Final cut-off for orders of Adventure Time #1 is March 17; street date April 9; $4.99.
