Those planning to attend the New York Comic Con in February will be among the first to see Wonder Woman, the fourth entry in the DC Universe series of original animated movies. The pic will premiere on the big screen on February 6 in the IGN Theater at the Javits Center. The 8:30 p.m. screening will be followed by a panel discussion featuring members of the film’s cast and crew.
Presented by Warner Premiere, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Comics, Wonder Woman will be distributed by Warner Home Video on March 3. The film will be available as a single-disc DVD, a two-disc special edition DVD and a Blu-ray release. DC fans will also be able to watch it OnDemand and via Pay-Per-View, or download it on the same day and date.
Wonder Woman is an origin story that chronicles Amazon princess Diana’s rise to superhero status. Keri Russell (Waitress, Felicity) leads a voice cast that includes Nathan Fillion (Firefly), Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2), Virginia Madsen (Sideways), Rosario Dawson (Sin City), Oliver Platt (The West Wing) and David McCallum (NCIS). The movie is produced by Emmy winner Bruce Timm (Batman: The Animated Series), who will be a Guest of Honor at New York Comic Con, joining previously-announced VIPs Geoff Johns, Jim Lee, George Perez, J. Michael Straczynski, and Michael Uslan.
Warner Premiere plans to put out two or three DC Universe animated films each year. Wonder Woman follows on the heels of the successful pics Superman Doomsday, Justice League: The New Frontier and Batman Gotham Knight. Projects in development revolve around Batman, Superman, the Justice League, Green Lantern and The Flash.
