Higher learning provider Education Management Corp. has acquired the Center for Digital Imaging and Sound (CDIS), located in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada. EDMC has also signed a purchase agreement for the acquisition of the Institute of Digital Arts (IDA) in Richmond, British Columbia. The IDA transaction is expected to close by the end of October. Together, these two new acquisitions are expected to be renamed The Art Institutes of Vancouver, and will be EDMCs 25th and 26th Art Institutes.
With approximately 300 students, CDIS offers a variety or programs including digital media, recording arts, animation, digital film, e-marketing and visual effects and netcasting. IDA also offers classes in 3D animation, digital media and interior design to approximately 80 students. Education Management Corp. is among the largest providers of post-high school education in North America, with 41 primary campuses in 26 cities and approximately 28,000 students as of fall 2001.
