Spanish production and distribution company Imira Entertainment has secured distribution rights for several projects from local toon house Acció! Studios, including feature films and TV series.
Sergi Reitg, CEO of Imira Entertainment says: “Acció! Studios is a talented Spanish company with an incredibly high caliber of learning-based animation, and we are thrilled to be representing its properties worldwide. Imira Entertainment is always looking to gain dynamic new third party programming to represent, and Acció! has exactly the kind of output that performs very well internationally.”
Imira will distribute two films from the studio: Cher Ami (82 mins.), a co-production with Euroview, DDF and TV3 that tells the moving story of French messenger pigeons during WWI; and Little Big Panda (85 mins.), produced by Acció and Benchmark, which takes a dramatic look at the perils faced by species on the cusp of extinction. Imira holds rights for Cher Ami worldwide except Spain, Middle East & North Africa. For Panda, the distributor will pursue Iberia and Latin America.
On the series front, the highest profile acquisition is the Acció original series 10 + 2 (52 x 13), which follows classroom sessions at a school in the magical country of Numberland, led by Professor Aristotle and his assistant Infinity and teaching story-based numeracy skills. The TV show, coproduced by Victory and TV3, has proved successful on Germany’s KiKa kids’ channel and spawned an 83 minute feature, The Big Secret, as well as two 45-minute specials (The Magical Trail, Letters and Pirates) and 70 half-minute inserts. Imira will be distributing all 10 + 2 productions worldwide, excepting Spain, GAS (Germany, Austria, Switzerland) and Scandinavia.
