All this month, Cartoon Network serves up a mixed bag of special treats and spine-tingling, rib-tickling installments of its most popular shows.
Every Friday night in October is devoted to “Scaretoon Scaretoon Frightdays.” From 8 p.m. to 1 a.m., the network will showcase the spookiest episodes of its original series Grim & Evil and Courage the Cowardly Dog, as well as Hanna-Barberas Scooby-Doo.
Samurai Jack carves the pumpkin with the 30-minute Halloween special Jack and the Zombies, airing on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7:30 p.m. The evil Aku leads Jack to a graveyard where the dead begin to rise. A diabolical spirit takes over Jack’s sword, leading Jack to defend himself against his own weapon. When Aku gets a hold of the sword, Jack fears he has met his end.
Halloween day sees a 24-Hour Courage the Cowardly Dog Marathon. Beginning at 6 a.m. Courage takes on a ghoulish gang of evildoers, including the savage Weremole, the sinister Katz, the devious French duck, Le Quack, and even the misunderstood Bigfoot.
The Ripping Friends, a new series from Ren & Stimpy creator John Kricfalusi, premieres Oct. 6 as part of “Adult Swim Premiere Party.” Every Sunday night in October, Cartoon Network will unveil all-new episodes of its hit Sunday night lineup, which includes Home Movies (10 p.m.) and The Oblongs (10:30 p.m.).
The Ripping Friends tells the story of a four-member team of manly men who band together to “rip” anything that stands in the way of freedom and goodness, ensuring a safe place in which to be manly.
In addition, Boomerang, Cartoon Network’s sister channel, will air every Scooby-Doo episode ever made in chronological order with four weekend marathons (Oct. 4-6, 11-13, 18-20 and 25-27). The more than 200 episodes cover 10 different television series across the Great Dane’s lengthy career.
