Mr Bean Animates Nick UK

The popular animated version of British comic Rowan Atkinson Mr Bean is ready to be stripped on Nickelodeon UK. The Tiger Aspect series (in association with Richard Purdum Productions and Varga Holdings) has been picked up by the British cabler for the next three years and will be stripped throughout the week on Nicktoons TV in February.

“Mr Bean is a very funny show and is ideal for Nicktoons TV,” says Debbie McDonald, head of acquisitions and co-productions at Nick. “The quality of the scripts and the animation will have our audience hooked. Whilst some of the plots are a bit chaotic, and Mr Bean does have a very long-winded way of getting the simplest things done, the feel of the show is in keeping with the channel’s philosophy of ‘your day in a toon way.’ “

The animated series has already been a hit internationally. Commissioned by ITV’s controller of comedy Sioned William, Mr Bean has sold to over 40 territories including Super RTL Germany, ABC Australia, Disney Asia, SVT Sweden, YLE Finland, CBC Canada, Forte Spain, RTE Ireland, and ATV Hong Kong. Worldwide TV sales excluding U.K., U.S., Japan and Hungary are handled by Fremantle Intl. Distribution. BBC Worldwide has also picked up the TV and video rights to the show for the Japanese market.
