Toronto-based toon shop Cuppa Coffee will be brewed to the max and totally caffeinated at this year’s MIPTV market in France. According to company president Adam Shaheen the shop has more titles targeting older audiences this year.
‘I set out five years ago to build an original library of high-quality programming.’ Shaheen explains. ‘Since then, our work has been received very well, and there seems to be a lot of interest in our older programming. I think it speaks to the passion of our team and how committed we are to the quality of our various endeavors.’
New at MIPTV this year, will be Life’s a Zoo, a 13 X 22 send-up of reality shows featuring self-serving animals plotting to land on ‘Top of the Food Chain!’ There’s also Dirty Laundry, which uses animation to illustrate real-life confessions and dirty secrets, as well as Celebrity Love Child, an interstitial show mocking celebrity scandals starring imaginary offsprings of famous stars.
Cuppa Coffee has had much success with its younger-skewing toon such as the 26X11 Flash-animated Bruno and the Banana Bunch and Tigga and Togga, a 26X11 musical package aimed at preschoolers. Among the other toons on Cuppa Coffee’s list is Bailey the Wonder Dog, a new 26 x 11 minute preschool series about a big shaggy dog whose size is outmatched only by his sense of wonder and appetite for adventure, and Captain Mack, a 52 X 11 preschool co-production with Kickback Media about a heroic flying captain who saves the day.
