Spike TV will premiere the new two-hour animated movie Afro Samurai: Resurrection on Sunday, Jan. 25 at 10 p.m. (ET/PT). Created by manga artist Takashi Okazaki, Afro Samurai is the story of a black samurai’s quest for revenge and justice for his murdered father. In Resurrection, the antihero is forced to pick up his sword again take on an army of deadly foes when his father’s body is stolen from the grave. Lucy Liu voices the role of Sio, a beautiful, seductive and sadistic mastermind plotting to destroy Afro Samurai. Other cast members include Mark Hamill (Star Wars) as Bin, Sio’s manservant and protector, and Yuri Lowenthal as Kuma, the teddy bear-headed warrior from the original Afro Samurai TV series.

Spike will also debut a new series titled MoCap LLC on Friday, Jan. 9 at 12:30 a.m. (ET/PT). The show follows the inner workings of a small, but earnest motion-capture company working the less glamorous side of gaming. The company apparently takes the mo-cap jobs that other shops won’t.
