Variety reports that wrestling sensation turned action star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson may play the title role in a live-action feature film version of Cartoon Networks Johnny Bravo. Warner Bros. Pictures has optioned the rights from Cartoon Network and series creator/writer/director Van Partible, who will serve as exec. producer.
Johnson has reportedly been a big fan of the animated series about a muscle-bound, Elvis-imitating ladies man with a blond pompador and a tendency to trip himself up. The actor is even credited with pitching the idea to producers Neal Moritz and Marty Adelstein.
The project, being developed by Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network, is the first live-action collaboration between the affiliated entities, which last linked up to bring The Powerpuff Girls: The Movie to the big screen.
