According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Pictures is wrapping up negotiations to produce a feature film based on id Software Inc.’s first person shooter game Doom.
If the deal goes through, the studio will have 15 months to begin production before rights bounce back to the software company.
The storyline will reportedly take place on Mars, where a scientific experiment accidentally opens a portal to hell.
Warner Bros. John Wells Prods. will produce with Lorenzo di Bonaventura. Greg Silverman, VP of production at Warner Bros. is overseeing the project for Production President Jeff Robinov. Writing and directing duties have not yet been assigned.
