Music History Gets Animated in ‘Drawn & Recorded’ on Spotify

L.A.-based studio Gunpowder & Sky has teamed up with Oscar- and Grammy-winning producer T Bone Burnett, acclaimed animator Drew Christie and music television producer Bill Flanagan (Storytellers) to create an animated series celebrated the untold stories behind seminal moments in music: Drawn & Recorded.

Announced earlier this year, the short form series debuts on Spotify on Thursday, November 10. Drawn & Recorded is directed by Christie and produced by Van Toffler of Gunpowder & Sky, along with Flanagan. With narration by Burnett brought to life by Christie’s distinctly illustrative collage-style of animation, the series promises to be fascinating for pop culture buffs as well as a visual treat.

Synopsis:

Drawn & Recorded brings to life through fantastical animation the even more fantastical tales, tall but true, of music lore, lost to the dustbin of music history… now uncovered and told by Grammy Award winning narrator, T Bone Burnett. Find out how jazz great, Louis Armstrong, made then-Vice President Richard Nixon his drug mule. Learn how Motorhead was a mutton-chopped speed freak’s best revenge against former band mates who once betrayed him. See rapper, ODB, recast as a superhero and guardian angel. Drawn & Recorded drops the needle on these and more untold stories that are sometimes hilarious, occasionally tragic, always compelling.
